Improved estimation of population mean under two-phase sampling with subsampling the non-respondents

چکیده
This paper considers the problem of estimating the population mean Y of the study variate y with two auxiliary variates x and z in the presence of non-response using twophase (double) sampling procedure. Four classes of combined regression and ratio estimators have been defined in four different situations and their properties are studied under large sample approximation. Comparisons of the suggested classes of estimators with usual unbiased estimator y reported by Hansen and Hurwitz (1946), Khare and Srivastava’s (1995) estimator, Okafor and Lee’s (2000) estimator and Tabasum and Khan’s (2004, 2006) estimator have been made. The results obtained are demonstrated with the help of an empirical study. & 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Estimation of population mean using mean square error by double sampling the non - respondents
In this paper, we have considered the problem of estimating the population mean of study character using mean square error by double sampling the non-respondents. Two generalized estimators for estimating the population mean using auxiliary character under two different cases are proposed. Further the problem has been extended to the wider classes of estimators, which include several generalize...
متن کاملSome Improvment in the Estimation of Population Mean in Cluster Sampling
Gupta and Shabbir (2008) have suggested an alternative form of ratio-type estimator for estimating the population mean. In this paper, we introduced new estimators by mixing two, stratified and cluster sampling method. Then we improved these estimators by using auxiliary variables and introducing new estimators. For sampling in infinite populations with a high geographic dispersion, the populat...
متن کاملEstimating Variance of the Sample Mean in Two-phase Sampling with Unit Non-response Effect
In sample surveys, we always deal with two types of errors: Sampling error and non-sampling error. One of the most common non-sampling errors is nonresponse. This error happens when some sample units are not observed or viewed but they do not answer some of the questions. The complete prevention of this error is not possible, but it can be significantly reduced. The non-response causes bias and ...
متن کاملResampling Variance Estimation for a Two-Phase Sample
Two-phase sampling is often used in a wide variety of surveys. Variance estimation from a two-phase sample has been a subject of active research. The re-sampling method of variance estimation has been used for this problem. However, the method confronts a challenging problem when the first phase sampling fraction is high. In the extreme (but not uncommon) case some first-phase strata are take-a...
متن کاملOn Presentation a new Estimator for Estimating of Population Mean in the Presence of Measurement error and non-Response
Introduction According to the classic sampling theory, errors that are mainly considered in the estimations are sampling errors. However, most non-sampling errors are more effective than sampling errors in properties of estimators. This has been confirmed by researchers over the past two decades, especially in relation to non-response errors that are one of the most fundamental non-immolation...
